Hail Data Identifies Potential Recovery Opportunities for ISA
Industrial Services of America (ISA), a recycling and materials processing firm based in Louisville, had no known hail-related losses in recent years. HailSolve reached out after identifying multiple hail events over several of their assets. After an initial discussion, ISA elected to move forward with a portfolio review to evaluate whether any buildings showed signs of hail-related depreciation that aligned with prior coverage periods.
Hail Damage Is Identified on 7 of 13 properties in the Louisville Area
HailSolve inspected thirteen properties across ISA’s portfolio. Seven showed indicators of hail damage. Each inspection was conducted by trained hail specialists and included standardized documentation, photo evidence, and a professional report — designed to help ISA assess whether any of the conditions aligned with their prior coverage.

HailSolve Matches the Storm Date to Previous Carrier Period; Client Decides to Initiate Appraisal Clause

ISA’s policy history included four carriers across five years. Our team overlaid storm data with physical indicators and identified the responsible storm — allowing ISA to pinpoint the responsible carrier. After submitting documentation to the appropriate carrier, an initial payment of $571,395 was made.
With less than 50% of what they believed was a covered loss, HailSolve developed a strategy to establish consensus between the owner and their carrier around the storm dates and extent of related damage.
ISA elected to pursue the appraisal process outlined in their policy after questions arose over scope. The process concluded with a total settlement of $1.23MM — more than double the original amount. Restoration was completed through HailSolve’s restoration division.
Key Takeaways
-
Portfolio Reviews Surface Overlooked Opportunities: ISA was unaware of storm damage prior to our outreach. A proactive data review helped surface hail events worth evaluating further.
-
Policy Coordination Is Often Complex: Four carriers over five years required careful alignment of storm data with relevant policy timelines and documentation standards.
-
Credible Documentation Drives Better Outcomes: The final result was based on detailed inspection findings and standardized reporting that helped clarify the extent and timing of damage.
- Owners Without Support Risk Leaving Value Behind: Without technical guidance, owners may accept estimates that don’t fully reflect actual conditions. ISA’s initial offer reflected less than half the value ultimately agreed upon after further documentation.
