$846K Insurance-Backed Restoration Supported by HailSolve’s Documentation

Veni Vidi Vici LLC, a commercial real estate firm specializing in shopping plazas, triple-net properties, and apartments, first engaged with HailSolve after our data flagged potential storm impacts at their Riverview Plaza property in St. Louis. Our inspection revealed indicators of hail damage to the building’s spray foam roofing system, likely stemming from a storm with hail recorded at 1.5” in diameter.

The Owner Experiences a Denial

Although the damage aligned with storm history, the client’s carrier initially denied the claim, citing roof age. At the owner's request, HailSolve coordinated third-party reviews by forensic engineers and meteorologists.

Reports detailing the extent and validity of damage were compiled along with weather data showing five significant hail-producing events had taken place over that location.

These findings ultimately supported hail as the cause of damage and identified the most probable date of loss.

Carrier Updates Scope to $846,805

When presented with this new evidence the carrier agreed to continue negotiations in good faith. The carrier later approved an updated restoration scope of $846,805, and the owner used this money to install a brand new roofing system over their building via our hail restoration division.

Takeaways

  • Overlooked Damage Is Common Without Hail Monitoring: Hail-related damage often remains unnoticed unless hail data reviews and specialized inspections are built into your business's processes.

  • Technical Documentation Can Clarify Storm Impacts: Independent inspections, storm data, and third-party reports helped resolve scope and cause-of-loss disputes between the owner and their carrier.

  • Denials Are Common for CRE Owners: Our structured approach ensured the owner had the right information at the right time to protect their asset's value and engage thoughtfully with their carrier.
